MASTER OF EDUCATION IN TEACHING
College of Education

The College of Education Master of Education (MEd) degree program in Teaching is designed to provide a broader and deeper knowledge and understanding of applicable curriculum models, educational programs, curriculum standards, human growth and development and learning theories.

Courses are offered online and via live televised instruction that benefit degree seeking students with professional obligations.

Admissions Requirements
For admission to The Graduate School, a baccalaureate or higher degree from a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting agency is normally required. Applicants should submit a complete application packet including official transcripts of college academic work, letters of recommendation, and official score on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Miller’s Analogy Test (MAT). The Graduate Bulletin and Admission Application are available on-line.
Degree Requirements
The 36 hour MEd program is composed of four major components:
Core required courses
Mid-point course
Areas of Inquiry
Culminating Experience and Comprehensive Exam
Courses
Core Required Courses (9 semester hours)
EDTE 710 Developing as a Professional Educator
EDTE 711 Ideas and Issues in Teaching
EDRM 700 Introduction to Educational Research or other approved education research course
 
Mid-Point Course (3 semester hours)
 
EDTE 712 Action Research in Teaching (Prerequisites: EDTE 710, EDTE 711, and EDRM 700 or other approved research course) Completion of Program of Study should be completed at the mid- point. This document will address the individual question (s) the student plans to pursue through the course of study.

One or more courses addressing teaching issues (3-12 hours)

One or more courses addressing learning (3-12 hours)
Assessment
One or more courses addressing assessment (3-9 hours)

Courses outside ITE related to inquiry questions ((0-12 hours)
Culminating Experience and Comprehensive Exam
EDTE 713 Action Research Capstone Seminar (prerequisite EDTE 712)
